not getting answers???????

can anybody tell me if it is unusual to see ad,s on this website that offer to deliver the car to your door step from hungary???? and expect to revieve payment through e bay??? and are dealing from england. AND will give no contact details in england, maybe my mistake but can somebody who knows more than me about this type of dealing check out the 02 m class merc for 3200? ta eric

Its always hard to be certain with these things, but I see tens of these scams every day, and this sounds very dodgy. The current vogue for scams is a story about a man working in Italy, but this Hungary lark is a similar thing and no more credible. Best steer well-clear on this one. We always advise buyers to see the car and if possible drive it before laying any money down.
If you can, paste in the advert ID of the Merc in question (or just the website address of the advert itself) to an email and send it to me at adverts@pistonheads.com. I'll take a look at it for you and hopefully will be able to give you a more definite answer.
A note of caution to everyone on the classifieds: if a car looks significantly cheaper than all similar models, be suspicious. If you inquire and get a long story that boils down to an exuse for why you should pay up without seeing the car, be more suspicious. If the payment is requested via direct bank transfer or through a third-party institution (we all know the famous 'scammers favourite' for that) rather than in cheque form then be even more suspicious.
Ultimately, the vast majority of the ads on our classifieds are legitimate and honest, so don't be afraid - just keep your eyes open and be aware that there are people out there who are trying to abuse the system. We are doing all we can to keep them off the site, but if you can report any dodgy ads you encounter then you'll really be helping us and the whole PH community.

Just got your email. You'll find those adverts all removed - we're pretty certain that the seller is a scammer. Typically low prices and dodgy stories.
Sorry that the car you were interested is not a genuine item. But well done for smelling something dodgy - your instincts were spot-on.
By the time I searched for the name you mentioned, the seller had already been banned (probably in the last few days) - we are bringing them down really quickly these days, and the level of spam being submitted is getting lower and lower week-by-week as the scammers slowly give up.
