Right guys i was part of the group buy and due to mainly lack of time have only just thought about fitting the system, yes i know its a year later!!

Anyway i remember at the time people saying the trigger wheel we got with the kit, COULDNT be used with a serp engine. Is this definitly true ?? It doesnt matter if its not because a friend of mine is going down the same route but with a pre serp engine. So i could sell him mine and then get him to get me a JE one was it??? That everyone said is ideal for the serp engine.

Also just been on trigger wheels whebsite and the CPS bracket has the option of a serp one for extra £2.50 ... do we know which we got?? and how can i tell the difference ??

Cheers Slatter

When I did mine I chose the JE one, it's more expensive but much better made and is a simple bolt on job the others you have to mess around making extra brackets. Fitted mine in a couple hours and worked perfectly ever since.

Another vote for the JE one here... sturdy and effective.

Is this from JE Developments or JE Engineering ??
Does it come with the trigger wheel and CPS Bracket ??
Do you know how much it is ??

Thanks

JE Developments, it's John Eales. The kit comprises the bracket, the trigger wheel, and a Ford VR sensor... think mine also came with new bolts/set screws for the damper (the TW replaces the nuts on the original set up); I had to source some longer timing cover bolts to cater for the bracket mounting (the stock ones would have had little thread engaged).

Cost is not cheap (£120ish from memory) but this is a crucial part in making the job a good un and there's loads of tales of bent and sheared mountings on the net.

I'll try and get one at the weekend but it won't be the easiest thing to snap

Thats good info that is, will get myself a JE one, More importantly, has anyone come up with a decent way of getting a cam sensor setup in there, without doing a dizzy bodge?

Presumably you'd want cam sensing for full sequential injection rather than batched or paired or whatever? Didn't think it made that much difference on big two-valvers...

Yes, Going sequential. With the power of the ECU i'm using, it would be a shame not too.

Couldn't that just be timed from the crank reference provided the phase was assigned correctly? not like it's multi cam with varaible valve timing or anything so why would a separate reference be needed off the cam?

Thats not ideal to be honest. Someone has mentioned the rangerover serp timing cover? Has anyone got any more details on this mod?

To offer up a bit of a choice, I went with the one from the kit - the Ford 36-1 trigger wheel supplied by triggerwheels.co.uk. It was firstly a lot cheaper than the JE wheel and going on others experience, was a lot easier to fit and set up. They didn't used to do a serp sensor bracket but I'm told that they now do offer one, as well as coil packs and anything else you might need. I made my own bracket out of a small strip of metal with two holes drilled in it and it's performed absolutely flawlessly for a year now so I'll leave it as it is for now smile

I'm sure the JE one is good, but the triggerwheels.co.uk one works just fine if you already have one!

A wheel with lots of teeth on it, bolted to the back of your crank pulley. It will only have one if someone has fitted it since it left the factory.

I think DHF is running an Autronic, if its a yellow Chim then its running a modified dizzy as a cam sensor.. I think

DHF, are you looking for the Crank trigger wheel, or the modified dizzy cam sensor ?

If you look on the standard TVR serp timing cover ,(intermediate) there is a cast circle directly above the crank hole.
This can be drilled out and a standard RR cam sensor inserted, as you are not using the dizzy anyway, I cant see a problem with changing the cam sprocket to a gems one, which would flag the cam sensor.
