Partner Not Working, Is there any Tax Breaks?

My wife has left her work and is now raising our two kids while I work, as an Aussie I only know of the Australian system where if your supporting your family you can claim children and wife as dependants (or it used to be like that).
Does the UK have anything similiar??

No. You can't even use your wife's personal allowance any more.

You may be eligible for tax credits if you eran less than £66k or so.

But you need to be careful as to what savings you may have to qualify for any other benefits.

We are in this same boat at present, its a minefield.

Also, as an Aussie you may not get anything at all. If you were a Somalian lesbian single parent, they'd give you car, house, money, cleaner, social worker etc etc

If you earn anything more than a minimal wage you are screwed. Even if you earn a low wage the 'working family tax credit' is hardly worth the effort of getting it set up.
