Finally set on getting one of these:

Vogue TD6
2005 onwards
>50k miles

looking to spend around 20 - 25k

I have had a look and there are a fair few around, any pointers ? ?

I was thinking of buying from a Land Rover dealer (12mth warranty) is it worth haggling with them ? are the LR dealers ameanable to it?

If they are listing one for 25k what is a realistic offer ? (no trade in)

I was thinking of starting at 20k, is it realistic ?

Regards

Frank

PS What result do you get from chipping/remapping the TD6 and how much is it ?

The TD6 is a horrible engine, not what a RR is all about. Give it til next summer and you'll probably get in a TDV8 RR for £25k! If it's now you want one, I see on PH Classifieds a 2007 Supercharged 4.2ltr V8 is up for £27k, now that is the one to go for!

I took out the 6 and the 8 today, I personally couldnt live with the 6 , foot right down to get any kinda power and the engine really sounds like its having to work.

There was about a 10K difference between the two but the v8 seemeed a nicer car all round, By the way I got very little off the car price, in fact nothing but I added some high value extras for only a little more, it was a second hand buy

Is it really that bad ?

I test drove one and didn't think it was that bad !!

It felt 'worked' under harsh acceleration but at cruising speed there was little in it compared to the petrol V8 (imho)

What about the chipping !

Thanks

I just changed my TD6 to a TDV8. The difference is night and day i grant you, but the TD6 is far from being horrible. I wouldn't have any hesitation recomending one to anyone, yes the TDV8 is far better, but that doesn't mean the TD6 is bad.

As for prices, i took 11k for a 53 plate mint condition autobiography with full LRSH. It is a buyers market out there, happy shopping.

I've got a td6 , only had it about 2 months . OK its not the fastest thing in the world but thats not what i bought it for. its no slouch though , well not compared to my discovery 300tdi. Was a big difference for my e46 m3 though

Once up to speed im sure the TD6 would be fine, I only had a 5 min drive in each before I decided. I like to be able to overtake other cars and when pulling away or coming off a roundabout I tend not to hang about too much and foot to the floor in the TD6 just didnt do it for me, The TD8 is not really quick but it at least adequate for me.

Aye that was where we found it lacking - the V8 was just massively more responsive on all occasions, whereas the TD6 had to lag its way onto boost, and then try and deal with the inertia of the beast.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/789032.htm would appear to fit your bill.

I have a TD6 and still love it. Ok, it isnt quick, but that isnt the RR way either.

What i do know is that its 6 years old, and get the same praise as it did 6 yr ago. People just seem to love them.

Quite fancy that supercharged one, but think i would miss the 26.3mpg.
