Who wants to hear an awesome rumour???

Shhhhhhh Keep it to yourself but I've heard that next classic the GT40 owners club maybe working in conjunction with Sporting Bears Motor Club to organise Dream Rides around the Le Mans circuit.
For those that don't know, a Dream Ride is where a member of the public pays a preset donation to charity (At the NEC it was £30 for a Caterham/ £70 for a Lambo Gallardo etc) for a trip out in a car of your choice. They usually take you out for a 6 mile drive around a set route. Its a great opportunity to go out in a car of your dreams and ALL the money goes to charity.
The rumour mill has it that the GT40 Club want to do a similar thing but round Le Mans or if they can blag it, round the circuit. Seeing as it's a great bit of publicity for both Club d'auto 'east, SBMC and GT40 OC, I can see it being very succesful for them and for charity. I hope they pull it off, imagine a lap round the track in a GT40, even if its a replica. Dream come true if you ask me.

Im 6'2". Will I fit ??
I'm 5'11 and once sat in the drivers seat of a GT40. I got stuck. I couldn't move my right arm enough in order to allow my left arm to reach the pull-cord to release the door...Admittedly in the passenger seat you won't have the wheel in the way.

Hi Adrian
Yeah keep up the good work
Hope your dad's better soon and can use his persuastion to make this happen
It's always Sporting Bears Dream Rides btw
It's usually only the short and slim like me
that can get into a GT40
I didn't realise how small the cabin of Keith's Norfolk SS100 is until we had to squeeze in a big passenger at the NEC, good on Keith for allowing it, pity we didn't get a photo the chap's head was all above the windscreen
firesafetydave has decided to keep his Westie (well for now anyway) - I hope you got a ride in it

More than likely going to be Classic Le Mans 2010, trying to arrange anything at proper Le Man would be a nightmare.GT40 or the newer GT are my favourite cars of all time.

Tell me about it, I'm praying its going to happen, its a once in a lifetime experience.
I would have thought the only way they will be able organise this will be during the parade laps that all the Classic Car Clubs have access to book. The cost of the lap/laps is likely to be approx £100 (especially with current exchange rate) and then the added monies for the charity, could work out quite expensive, unless if the driver will give up his spare seat on his/her parade lap...
Would be a fabulous opportunity for anyone, but a promotional and logistical nightmare for all involved... I organised our club track laps this year, the organisation was pitiful but at least we all got out there..
