Looking after leather against JEANS!!!
Discussion
I'm picking up a car with VERY light grey leather on Saturday - I'd like to look after it and protect the leather against any dye transfer issues from me wearing jeans.
Can you advise on a product that will protect... and failing that one that will clean it off if it happens please?
Seen the white leather post so can see the route for a major problem but want to be more preventative than repairing!!

Gliptone liquid leather will be fine for cleaning and feeding your leather !
As to stopping this happening i am not too sure but found a quick clean and feed keeps back the dye transfer !
If you look on the link towards the middle of the page is a picture of an M5 seat which was 8 months old with 6000 miles on the clock !
That colour will always show the dirt and dye!!

sorry to hijack slightly but KDS i have a focus st and i keep it very clean but had some bodywork done on the rear quarter and passenger door when i put a couple of dents in it (nightmare), i had the bodywork done at a local bodyshop but was not happy with the ripple effect on the quarter and door and slight pinpricks in the paint, and marks from the mop, i took it back, they re-did the work but still not exactly the show car finish i was expecting and hoping for (still shocking to a perfectionist).
they said it was within their tolerences and after some weeks of arguments i gave up on them.
could you look at it as i am not happy until it is right or could you recomend a bodyshop that is up to your obviously very high standards as i am not really interested in trying my luck at another bodyshop unless i know they are up to the job. i am based near west london, slough area.
thanks in advance if it is something you can help me out on.

Had a pistonhead member come to me last weekend with a similar problem on a highly modified astra turbo which is his pride and joy only to be ruined by paint shop and mot station that lifted his car up for mot test in the incorrect place on the floor of his car , which has inturn made two holes in the floor pan ! And then the Mot station had the cheek to fail the car afterwards!!
Just ring to make sure i am at the unit when you plan on coming down!

The link below is a protector that I use and it is great a protecting leather from dye transfer on pale leathers.

I see this happen a lot in my line of work, especially on light/creme leathers like in Audi and BMW's.Can you advise on a product that will protect... and failing that one that will clean it off if it happens please?

Whilst I was in Switzerland this summer I bought some leatherglaze sealent from Swissvax (not seen this product in the UK, but I dont mean Swissvax of course, but the glaze) after seeing a good Demo on a Lambo Murcialago.
This stuff was wipe on, and it just soaked into the seats and totally disappeared.
I have since used it on a few "new" car details to seal brand new leather to great effect.
1 such car was a new Maserati GranTourismoS (search detailing world for Envy Valeting and you'll find it) and the owners previous Maserati had terrible colour transfer from his jeans so this time we got in 1st!
Also did the treatment on his new X6
Best wishes
Tim

Hi Chris
Tony Spears here From Autoshinespecialistvaleting.co.uk, i was looking forward to seeing your Lambo at the Barnsley demo day, not to worry if you were busy. Do you have a detailer to look after your collection of cars? if not would you be interested in either having them pro detailed or having a regular valet? Im not too far from you so i will do you a good deal on either.
Cheers

Of course Tony would now like to offer out that very cheap deal to all PH forum readers... wouldn't you Tony... P.S I do hope Chris found your note to him in our thread...

I have a Champagne Nappa interior in both my M5 and my Lexus LS . To protect the leather and clean / condition I use LTT Solutions Auto 150 kit. This contains a foam cleaner, a conditioner and a surface protector...plus sponges etc. The cost is around £45 per kit but it will last for ages and the results are spectacular.
