Selling advice please
Discussion
The time has come to part with my beloved cerbera, due to a new addition to the family. I will be buying another car. Do I part exchange or sell the cerby seperatly?
Its a T reg 4.5 in the finest of dark blue with full cream leather. She has covered 52,339 miles and has been decatted. Andy from APM fitted a new gear box in april 2008, in september a new radiator, front and rear pads and front shocks. I have also just had fitted a new clutch, bearings and slave cylinder seals, it's taxed until sepember 2009.
There are stone chips on her nose but nothing too harsh and the odd scuff on the spiders, apart from that she is in tip top condition. What is your advice and what can I expect to get? Thanks
p.s. no idea how to upload a photo but I can send some vie email regards.

For a laugh take it to a garage for a part ex - suspect they will refuse to give you a price or possibly offer you absolute peanuts for it.
If the chassis is ok and it hasnt had a rebuild and it hasnt got short induction and it hasnt got uprated suspension then I would suggest you will get £12K privately?

4 pages of adverts and only 4 :: SOLD VIA PISTONHEADS :: tells me that demand is going to be low. Price it Too cheap and people will think it's a dog, price it too expensive and people will not be interested. Be prepared for a long hard wait.
That said, if you send it to me I'll send you a check for £50K and all you have to do is return £30K by express money order and keep the rest.

Did you have the car for sale a while ago on Pistonheads I am sure I remember seeing it and thinking it looked a very nice example..
IMHO I think 12-13k privately would be about right the mileage is slightly against it but it is a 4.5.....
If it is in fine fettle then it would probably be worth giving Drew or Simon a bell at Fernhurst if you don't need the car everyday then you might be able to get them to do it on Sale or return..

Thanks guys for the replies. Yes had it on here last year but decided to keep it, until the pitter patter of tiny feet came calling. Please see add below, a fair price I feel for a sorted motor.

Does anybody have a barn I can rent for a couple of years?
I'm thinking of buying a few cheap Cerbs for my pension fund!
Ridiculous low prices at the moment, for a such rare work of art motoring icon (I say).
Just heard today one owner sold for £6k to an indie, and it was sold by them for 12k!
So £12k is now the going rate for a good 4.5??? Please don't go any lower!

Every single one of these 'decided to sell' threads, reminds me of the day I watched my beloved cerb drive off with the new owner at the helm. Brings a tear to my eye every time.
Don't do it!
Find another way, believe me, you'll regret it every day. Mine's been gone 2 years now and I constantly look at the crap accumulating in the garage, thinking my cerb used to stand there.

Like he's going to write 'its falling apart'.
Ring him and ask? Go and look at it?
I would also take a good look at the engine, oil pressure etc..... 54K is a great mileage but things can get a little tired.
Also ask the seller about any probs eg oil useage, oil pressure, oil in water etc... (not that I know anything)
Also ask about upgrades eg suspension.
Check that the car has had a 'no expense spared' existence. I like to think that my cerbs were treated as such. You dont want lots of bills looming.

No engine rebuild or upgrades, although it has always been warmed up before driven, and drives beantifully especially with the new clutch! I have owned the car since may 2006 and Andy at APM has looked after it, before that it was Racing Green, Hants, I have every receit from day one there has been no expense spared. What ever he says needs to be done I have told him to go ahead. With regards to the chassis I have not seen the car on a ramp but would be confident to say if there were any problems Andy would have informed me, a sitch in time etc. Please feel free to contact him for a more detailed discussion. My reason for selling is a new addition to the family and unfortunatly I am not Bill Gates. Hope you find this helpful look forward to hearing from you.

A few months back I thought there was a oily residue on top of the coolent when I was having issues with overheating. Thought it could be the head gasket but the problem was a broken radiator, now the temp stays at a steady 75 and fans kick in at 95-100 in traffic, no more worry in the town traffic! I cover about 180 miles a week and use no extra oil. I'm sure Andy will not mind confirming the work he has carried out or answering questions about the chassis as he is the only person to have seen it recently. Next question?
Think I should take a commission for this one - helping put your car in the limelight!
I would check with Andy that he is happy to take calls though. I wouldnt be happy if I was him to receive calls from people who havent spoken with you, arent serious etc.... I would happily take a call from someone who just wants a chat before the write the cheque.

Don't sell it.
I know you've been hit with some hard bills, but now you have it's the best time to own it.
When you have a baby, you need a toy you can jump into and de-stress - you need the Cerb now more than ever.
Enjoy.

cerblondon, i did email you the other days as interested in the car but in the process of selling my chim so cant really do much at the mo, saying that have someone taking a second look this weekend so fingers crossed might be over for a viewing. one thing concerning me bout the cerbs is the potential huge leap in running costs.
