So anyway, took the A4 (2.0 TDI) out on sunday, and on the drive i get a warning (DIS, not warning light) that the oil has reached its minimum level.

Now, i'll admit since it was bought (and serviced) nearly 10k ago, i havent checked the oil, but its a 57 plate so i didnt think it'd eat that much..

But anyway, i checked after it had sat for a couple of hours, and sure enough, it was at minimum, so i bought some, and put about 1/4 litre in - not wanting to overfill, but i figured that should be enough to get me home without doing any damage...

I've just checked it now, and now its stood for a couple of days, it appears to be overfilled? Now i didnt put enough oil in to go from min to over max, that im certain of - so whats going on, and should i be worried (I know overfilling can be as bad as underfilling)

you should always check the oil when its warm.
however its normally a litre between the two points (low and high) so i can't think it would make that much difference...
