USA Mobile phone

Hi all.

Im off to Florida on thursday and staying for 3weeks. Im going back again in January for a further 3weeks.
Therefore, i think it was be worth while buying a prepay "cell phone" for use over there rather than spending a fortune on roaming charges.
Any suggestions on what network i should choose, and what i should expect to pay?
I'll be staying in Daytona Beach if that makes any difference.

I haven't been over to the US for a while, but I'm not sure that the prices for handsets over there are quite the same as here. I don't think they have the subsidies that the networks over here offer. So it might be cheaper to live with the roaming charges. In any case, how many calls are you going to need to make whilst on holiday?

Try AT+T. I put credit on my pay-as-you-go whenever I visit there. Far cheaper than roaming charges. But remember that it costs you to receive calls to a mobile (even US one) over there.

I bought one last week on t-mobile - phone cost $20 and I stuck about another $25 into it for 130 minutes or so......easy to setup and activate if you have a net connection (or you can phone them) - buy them in wal-mart or similar.....only really useful for usa to usa calls obviously...

Virgin network pay as you go handset (small flip phone) - $7.99 in any Seven-Eleven. Pre-paid cards 5 bucks and up.
