Custom furniture

Hello,

I am after a dining table, chairs and a sideboard. Does anyone have any ideas what is involved in having these made in oak as bespoke items, costs, timescales 'vs reasonable quality factory made items ?

Anyone on here in the furniture making trade ?

- make sure they manufacture the credenza and table so you can get it in the house

Was thinking that, my reasoning for asking was that 'off the peg' solid oak furniture also seems to be very expensive so was wondering if there was much differential between the two approaches.

Theres a very talented furniture type chap on here, forget his name though, which is annoying for you, me and him...

A mate of mine in Italy is a very good carpenter and has done lots of bespoke furniture in oak. Getting things shipped over is easy and should find his prices are much cheaper, partly because he has god connections to wood yards. Send me a email and I will forward his details.

Not entirely surprised as even a set from a mainstream supplier is high four figures, however sadly the mrs feels we have reached the time in our lives where Ikea just won't cut it.
