There I was thinking I've only done a few hundred miles this year and my P&J will fly the MOT only to be given a failure on the outriggers and rear shocks.
My dilema now is what to do ?
I'm definately keeping the car the grin factor is just worth every penny, but the garage has offered to weld the outriggers and fit new shocks if I source them. The garage owner was my old landlord and became a good friend so I know he's not trying to pull a fast one but his mechanics don't have any TVR experience and I'm worried about how good the welding would be and if done badly what damage they might do to the car.
The other option is to take the car to someone who knows TVR's to do a pertial lift and replace the outriggers properly.
Can anyone tell me who's good at this in the derbyshire area and what they would do in my situation

RT Racing at Sheffield?
PM V8ish he had his done there just before he sold it.
Might also be worth asking Trackcar (Chesterfield) but I'm pretty sure he's given up the welding game (unless he's hard up for work !!)
Edited to add - wanna buy a welder?

Thanks Chris, yes it is RT Racing in Sheffield which is where I work (Sheffield that is) so would be handy for me. I have posted V8ish for his opinion. Chesterfield is where I live so if trackcar is watching this post and is looking for a spot of welding then PM me.
If I had the garage space I would take you up on the welder Chris although the last time (200 yrs ago) I welded anything it looked like chicken poo. The thought of laying the car up over winter and doing it myself realy appeals

Thanks again Chris, looks like Richard from RT Racing did an excellent job although I'm not sure I can afford RT prices. Any idea where I can source a cheap pair of rear shocks ?
Depends on what you mean by cheap - I have Gaz shocks and they are pretty good (about £500 for all 4) or slightly cheaper are AVOs. Check sprint for companies and prices, but mine came from Absolutely and his service is good.I'd wait until monday before you buy though as you'll save 2.5% in legitimised theft
(sorry VAT), but don't wait until 2011 when you'll get robbed another 1%!!!!
This assumes the companies pass the saving on of course
