Im interested in researching locations where i can do some overlanding in a modded off roader. ( not purchased yet )

im interested in doing trips that will take 2-3 days of hard offroading to complete with nice scenic areas to park up and pitch camp with the mrs and kids, and also good mountain biking to be had nearby.

You can't really 'overland' in the UK. Overlanding implies travelling long distances much of which is without proper roads. I suppose you could string together some Welsh green lanes with some camping but it won't really be overlanding. The nearest place to the UK you can really overland is probably Morocco where there are plenty of organised overlanding trips you can join up with if you are new to it.

The pyranees can be a good place to "overland" and a good starter route.

its no Morocco, Russia or transafrica trip but the last time i was out there we didn't see another person for 3 days solid which was nice.

You can ge also get at least 24hours from civilisation which adds that slight frisson of excitement that you get with overlanding.

Some of the guys on www.orrp.com are planning a trip to Iceland in 2010. They did a trip this year which I would love to have gone on had funds allowed
