My first post was "111S vs 111R". Admitting to coming from a TVR I then concluded I'd have to have a 111R. Drove both and found the 111S a bit 'slow' (all things are relative, coming from a Griffith 4.3 BV) and the 111R great over 6250. But didn't like the brakes and concluded in the real world the 111S would suit me fine.

I looked at and drove several 111Rs, 111Ss, Sport 135s and a Sport 135R...

...but last night I found 'my' car. It's exactly what I'd have specced if I'd walked into a dealer in 2003:

53 111S
Storm Titanium
Red leather
Red hood
A/C

It's already got a Hurricane induction. I'm getting the wheels painted matt black (they need a refurb anyway) and having a B&C sports exhaust fitted.

Lotus ownership - HERE I COME!

Any tips for clubs / forums / meets (South West / Wales) and insurance (limited miles, agreed value) welcome.

Cheers for your help so far and look forward to being a proper part of things!

welcome, ive had my 111S / 2003 for a only a few months now and am sure you made the right decision as reading your post have recently had all the same questions and driven most of the variants around. All you need now is a 2ubular exhaust and a rear panel eliminator kit and a your away !!

Welcome...111s is the best everyday Elise IMHO... 40+ mpg and low tax, fitted the Larini exhaust to mine and sounds fantastic. Regarding insurance I've just had a great quote from CCI.

Great news Ben! I'm in Bristol this weekend if you want to meet up. When does it arrive?

Yeah it was that thread that convinced me thanks. I like the split exhaust gas flow and seperate silencer for each tail pipe as opposed to one big box and whoknowswhat goes on inside (though I did hear a Larini and it sounds great).

Hey Chris! Anything serious this weekend will be difficult as it's my wife's birthday. However, if you're able to pop in for a pitstop (we're ten mins from M4/M5 junction) give me a bell - I sure that would be fine. Lotus should be ready end of next week.
