Current Market
Discussion
Despite doing a lot of work on the Griff this year:
New Clutch
Diff Bushes
17" & 18" Wheels
Gaz Golds
New Ignition compontents
New Steering UJ's and Shafts
SH drop links
LED dash illumination
HIDs
I am quickly coming to the decision to sell the Griff. It has moved all of 20 miles in the last two months, I don't really get the chance to drive it and TBH I don't really get the enjoyment out of it anymore. It's taking up space and money to sit and do not much.
So what is the current market like? I know there is a credit crunch on, but would I be stupid to think of selling it. Cashing in on the £7-8k I could get for it and saving? Or would I be better off waiting until Spring?

In the spring time things may look better.
I don’t mean the Depression.
You will be looking at nice weather and keeping it will feel more sensible. And if it doesn't then you should get more for it.
Just as long as the market doesn't plummet in the meantime.
If it does, then just keep and enjoy.

Done more miles than me then in the last 2 months. . . . However, you'd have to prise the keys from my cold dead hand as that the only way I'd relinquish them
Wait until the spring. SORN it, storage insurance to keeps costs to a minimum and try then.
For mine winter off the road this year, few things to sort and then the spring, getting the car out on odd days, then the building excitement for Le Mans, the Alps hoon in the late summer and then the Autumn and then re-consider what needs sorting over the winter . . .
There again, I don't have the collection of vehicles you do WF so it's easier to justify . ..

I bought a Tuscan a few months back , advertised my P&J quite a few people interested, I have had the car for 8 years and I have throughly enjoyed every single minuite of owning it. Staggering performance and looks to die for. My wife noticed I was a bit down when advertising it and eventually told me to withdraw it from sale. It is laid up in a garage heated and covered I have a SORN on it and its not insured. It owes me nothing, I purchased it for 16k and spent at least that on it over the years. It s in excellent condition and has had a respray, and to be truthful I doubt I will put it back on the road in the near or long future. It will be one of those cars that someone will find one day in about 40 years!!
I will never sell it ever, I have had sports cars all my motoing life and nothing ever compared to that Griff, except of course my Tuscan 11 S and that hasnt moved now for nearly three months and wont for a further five . Owning a TVR is a privilage and is becomoing a rare one

It's seems quite alot of Griffs are tucked up in garages up and down the country, I guess at this time of year that's quite normal but it appears more and more arn't getting out much even in the summer months. My own car hasn't turned a wheel in over 2yrs, I started to fit new carpets then my daughter was born and I 've not touched it since!!! What a waste I really need to get my act together and cobble it back together again try to get it up and running for summer, it will be interesting to see how much work will be required to get it growling again after such a long period of inactivity.

I am guilty of this also.I sorn'd it 2.5 years ago with idea that I was going to do all those "little" and a couple of "big" jobs and then it would be perfect and I would enjoy it more.
I have a list of (valid) excuses as long as you can shake a stick at. These include changing changing job (and working away a lot more now), moving house (twice), and built a huge extension on the current house, another little dunc joining the family, the sensible car engine blowing up and needing re-build, and all sort of other things.
I was hoping to have the Griff running this year, but it now looks like next summer.
The important thing (for me anyway) is that it is still loved, and I do managed to do a bit every month. It is not forgotten, or an abandoned project, just a very slow moving one. It will get there in the end, and will be worth waiting for. When its finished, it will be used reguarly.
No Griffs are young any more. Quite a large number will be coming up for chassis work, or just general extensive refurbishment. It would not be economically viable to just send it a specialist and say "make it so". Therefore, a large proportion will be mid "long term project" by people like me who have good intentions, but not enough time.
Also, very few of them will be the "daily driver".
Don't forget, they did not really build that many of them. Not all will have survived.
The net result is, not that many Griff sightings on the roads.
Quite agree thought of selling mine a couple of times, really glad I didnt for me there is nothing that can beat the thrill and total enjoyment that owning and driving a Griffith brings. We all are Very Lucky!

Maybe not the ideal place to post this ... but I am sat in the lounge, and the poor Griffiths is NOT tucked up in the garage, but out where the snow and rain and frost are
In October the builder was meant to have a spent a couple of days to sort out the sticky garage doors, and fit a nice new big electric door for me to play with. He actually started about a week ago, and on friday should have been finished. Next Wednesday MAYBE the Griffith can go and get back inside and thaw-out, and dry out ...

But SELL THE GRIFFITHS? Sheesh, life must be grim to consider doing that! Not too many miles recently, but the memory of the Le Mans Classic ...
and the sun is just about showing today, and I really DO HAVE to get some shopping in Morrisons AND I don't even have to kick open the sticky garage doors ... see ya
