I started the topic last month as i am in the planning stage of an ultima at the moment . I have not decided yet weather to build or buy secondhand but if i was to build i was looking at a diesel twin turbo setup.

Unfortunately after all the years of saving and preparation ive been made redundant so had to shelve the project just now but have been looking at Audi and american diesel power instead of petrol.

The 2 reasons are economy and the fact i work for Peugeot and diesels are winning all the LeMans series races. Gearbox is the problem as torque is so huge......Horsepower is huge and figures of 500hp-600hp not uncommon and cruising MPG of 30+

Now this is what I call a challenge Twin Turbo Diesel power could well prove very interesting project to follow through to completion and see how it performs has this been done previously then?

the Audi V8 4.2 diesel is a lovely unit but the trans and ecu's are the stumbling blocks. I think you could get a G50 to work with the engine but the ECU's are a major headache!!

Will cost more as the diesel path is far less travelled, so you'll be doing a lot more of the ground-work yourself.

But that's not what would put me off... it's weight! They are LARDY BEASTS!
