Although these days not one to lock my motor away for the winter months, and indeed happyish to take it out in the rain, I do run to the luxury of a heated garage by way of one oil filled radiator. Haven't run to dehumidifiers yet but wondered what everyone's take on heating etc one's garage was?

Will be building a quad garage with a home theatre studio in the eaves when the house is done.

It`ll have underfloor heating using a geothermal heat pump

I've got a couple of infra red heater and a dehumidifier. Piped up for radiators when I built the garage, but never bothered putting them in. Too bone idle....

I think dry is much better than warm for the car.

Warm and wet doesn't sound at all good.

True, Dehumidified air a must if in a "sealed" environment.
Wind dried is as good as any other dry to me - mine doesn't sit long enough to get wet anyway wink I'm mainly going to be using my garage to store cr@p in this winter, anyway, i wouldn't be able to open the Ro's door even if i did squeeze it in.

Forgive me for asking such a personal question, but would you mind if I asked roughly how much? Send an email if you prefer, or you could just tell me to stop being such a nosey git. hehe

Heat pump is much more efficient, dehumidifiers arnt too bad too. Heating otherwise is mega expensive especially for an empty room.
Better to insulate well and like Jez use a heat pump or just dehumidifier. Cold and dry would be fine IMO.
Cost of power is only going to go up, so makes sense to use modern methods to keep costs down. You will need your money for petrol anyway smile

if you use poor heating set up it can be worse than no heating!

them ground source systems are a waste of money good for bragging rights only to be honest. ive put loads of these things in.

the next big thing is the CCHP

combined cooling heating and power or a Trigen plant can run of gas or biofuel as well!

Well I will be out only when it is raining so the engine will provide the heat to melt all the snow, salt is a pain. I choose the monaro over the jeep when it is wet and icy. I have a heated for demisting the windows and that's about it. Think my car will be the most used monaro..

Delmeekc you have the right idea about car ownership. Feel bad that I didn't take mine out today cos it was wet! Shame on me. After all, it's worth f*** *** these days anyway.

WET?!
I think you bought the wrong car for the UK!!
For me wet means more MPG as I can't get traction so I don't bother pushing it. "Drive it like the mother-in-law's in the back" i think the phrase is!!!
And when it's raining you don't feel a plonker for wash wiping someone instead of flashing......hehe
