Lady PHers Perfume advice please.

Currently hunting the last present for the gf for xmas.

Just after a nice mainstreet perfume to buy, the ones we tend to like (she likes to wear and I like to smell) are boss perfumes she has deep red and the two intense perfumes.

So something similar but different please! Does anyone have the xx or Hugo woman?

By the way nothing sickly smelling or overly flowery, but fresh and citrusy is ok, ideally rich dark smells though (god i feel so gay).

I had a quick look at dior perfumes as I always wear Dior aftershave and there seems to be a fair bit of choice too!

It sounds like your girlfriend (possibly) likes the same smells as I do. I don't like all these modern flowery or androgenous smells. I want something that's more individual and doesn't make me smell like a florists shop.

I tried Hugo Woman and Hugo Femme the other day and didn't like either of them, they're too flowery for me.

My favourite perfumes at the moment are:

Georgio Beverley Hills. This is my normal every day perfume.


Amarige by Givenchy. But that's quite strong for every day, it's better as a going out smell.


Poeme by Lancome.


Clinique Elixir. It smells awful when you first spray it, but once it's settled it's very feminine without being bimbo


I also like Poison by Dior, but it's such an overpowering smell. If I could find something subtle with that smell, I'd be very happy

I wear a lot of Hugo Boss perfumes but have a bottle of Armani Code for something a little different. It doesn't smell all flowery and crap but its a good long lasting fragrance.

Mine was paco with the first gf smelt it everywhere when we split, cured that one by wearing it myself (it was unisex when such things were cool), then was hugo boss deep red with the only woman I've ever loved (in fact only realised I was over her the other day but that's a different story) cured that one by buying it for the current gf! Problem solved lol!

The black XS sounds a good plan, I used to wear xs myself and generally like Paco Robanne smells. So would the poison but neither of us like it!

Fresh and citrusy: Clinique Happy or Clinique Happy Heart

Rich and dark: Vivienne Westwood Anglomania

I wear a lot of these perfumes and can highly recommend them. They come in a little "stick" rather than spray.

I also adore B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful and have loads of their stuff.

DKNY Be Delicious is nice fresh and citrous smelling - the green apple looking one. The red one is sickly. DKNY Woman is nice too & Calvin Klein Escape

Perfume smells different depending on who's wearing it. The only way to choose a perfume for your missus is with her, as she'll need to smell it on herself to be sure its ok.
Why not get one of her friends to take her shopping to try perfumes?

Or, you could book her on a perfume making day.

If you go to the perfume shop, they are doing a box of ten teaser perfumes for £29.99, comes with a voucher for money off the one she likes the most. Sounds like a cop out, but at least you wont buy the wrong one!

Sounds a good idea to me...It's a bad idea to buy perfume for your OH, so much better to let her choose
