As some git stole the sideskirt from my M3 last weekend while it was parked outside my house I've been thinking about installing a CCTV camera. I just wondered how many people on here have CCTV at home and is it worth it?

I've just started looking into it but it seems that I can get a camera and DVR PC card from ebay for about £25, get a system from Argos etc for about £99 or visit a local security centre and spend £400+. I don't have any need for more than 2 cameras but 1 would be fine, I want to be able to cover as far as the road which is about 15m from the front of the house (including at night), and I want to be able to record a reasonable length of time. Any recommendations?

The yale systems are good if yo can light the area.
Otherwise, if catching the culprit in the act is your idea, rather than deterrent, have you seen those securiy lights with inbuilt camera and sd card, that take a photo or 10 sec video eveytime they are set of? About £100, toerags think it is a stock lamp, ignore it, it lights them up like a xmas tree, then you have some nice piccies of them and can go get a bit of 4x2!

I haven't seen these security lights with built in cameras but I'll have a look for them. I want it to act as a deterrent in the first instance so I'll put up a small warning sign too, but it would also be handy to get an idea what they look like for future reference

May be against the law though if it's looking into the road (as opposed to looking at your premises)

Hmm, I will have to check on the law regarding taking images of the road. I just want to put the camera on the side of the house to cover the drive and would be handy to also have the frontage in shot. If not though I'll just have to angle the camera down a bit. I am aware that I need to display signs saying that CCTV is operating.
