Restaurant etiquette
Discussion
Treated the OH last night to our local curry house near Stratford. Been going to years, and it's fab. A group of 4 followed us in - an elderly couple (approx 70's) with their grand-daughter & her partner.
They sat across the resraurant from us.
The granny began talking.
Her voice, apart from having a very annoying tone, also drowned out everyone elses conversation. She was also the main stay of conversation on the table, so was getting a fair bit of airtime.
I grew used to this droning after a few minutes, and then she got her first course. Great, I thought, that'll shut her up for a bit. Oh no. She proceeds to stuff her mouth to capacity, and continue her conversation giving everyone a full view of the content of her mouth.
FFS what is wrong with some people!

So if she went with her grand daughter, she was the naan?
....anyway, stop groaning please, I couldn't agree more. Basic manners (I'm not even talking about silver service here), simply basic manners surely is a matter of politeness rather than "learning"??!
I've been out with some people and cringed at some things they do. Even down to simple stuff like starting their food before everyone has received theirs.

Agreed with all the sentiment on this thread.
Basic manners in a restaurent is little to ask of people. A bit of respect for other diners is the least you can ask for.
I always ask everyone else at my table if it's okay to get my cock out and have a tug.

ker."I (politely) asked two groups of women to STFU during the 2 minutes silence on 11/11. We were in a shopping centre, which had notices about the observance, gave an announcement about the observance over the PA and then cut all the music in the centre at bang on 11. Did these dizzy cows notice? Did they f
k, far too busy talking about clothes. One woman actually looked quite annoyed that I'd said something, Thankfully she didnt follwo the look through, because "people died so you are free to go shopping in f
king white stuff you stupid s
g, so show some f
king respect" was already formed up in my mind. AdvanceRoadcraft said:
My solution? Call out to the noisy one and say, "Sorry to be a nuisance, but I think some of the people in the far corner may have missed just a little of that last bit. Could you go through that again for them, please?"
They either blush and apologise or you get thumped!

You're going to be really embarrassed if you get floored by a 70 year old gran. They either blush and apologise or you get thumped!

next time just walk over and stab her in the hand with a spare faulk, and shove a spare naan in her gob.
I don't usually do this and i'm not taking the piss here, but what an odd attempt at spelling fork!Edited by Shadytree on Thursday 27th November 07:54

This drives me up the wall. It's so rude and some of my family even do this. It's been known for me to cook a meal and extended family start eating it before I actually sit down. Me and OH look on in disbelief. The other thing that drives me up the wall is when I go out to dinner with friends and they take their mobile and proceed to text whilst at the dinner table without putting it on silent. There's very little excuse for such appalling table manners.
I don't eat like the queen and I ain't upper class but I know what you DON'T do at the dinner table!
