In Bruges - Last scene [SPOILER]

I posted on this film a few weeks ago.
Sorry to re-post but I was talking with my mate the other day and we both had different ideas of the last scene and Colin Farrels character - I thought he lived, he though he died.

What do other people think?

I thought he died. Reason being that it mimics the scene with the child from beforehand, in which the little person and the main target both die...

Looking at it again... It is a bit of a brain teaser, but he talks like he is dead... Kind of... But not at the same time...

I thought he lived too. granted i know it would have been all but impossible, but so would running away from your assailant with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

And he was 'speaking' something like "I really didnt wanna die, etc"

I think thats the whole point, they left it open so you can make up your own ending.

No, but did you notice how they take the oxygen mask off his face, which could be interpreted to mean that he's a goner.

Also, it's like he has finally found his redemption for shooting the child - the death has been paid by his death.

Still, I would rather love a sequel.
