Two new things I've noticed recently:
1) Mobile cameras on the A14 between Ipswich and Felixstowe - sited on nice straight bits of 70mph dual carriageway which surely has a low accident history.
2) Irritating little temporary signs that are put on the kerb for an hour or two and flash your speed at you, followed by a smiley. There were two in one spot today, covering each direction of a tiny back road that doesn't see much traffic. Associated Plod was in a pale green Smart or A-class(I think) with signwriting on it that made it look like a courtesy car. Didn't stop to read what it said, but doubtless some fluffy hearts and minds stuff.

Well that was a chunk of taxpayer's money well-spent then, not.

There's been one on the A507 between the A1 and Shefford, just by the Arlesey bridge for some time.

Not sure if it doesn't collect speed figures, maybe it does but if so it's not being used to fine motorists, most of the boy racers use it to see how fast they can go approaching the bridge It should be a 60 limit but they've put a 30 limit for some reason, with a fixed camera on the other side of the bridge. Probably causes more speeding than it solves.

They're obviously not making enough money.. erm I mean catching dangerous criminals, so they are targetting the safe parts of the A12 and A14. If I see them in a handy lay-by I might feel the need to park up right up to the back of their van. Now where did I put that portable "Danger Revenue Collection Point Ahead" sign.

Thanks, I was just about to drive that road today. If I see them there I shall park in front of them
