Where did you get your insurance? I have just purchased a V8 LDV for the trip next year and am struggling to get the insurance sorted. Usual providers won't touch it.

Have you tried some of the more specialist companies.

Some one like AON http://www.specialistcars.aon.co.uk/

AdrianFlux, A-Plan...

Is that Gary Moulson by any chance?

I've been using KM for a while now and can thoroughly recommend them.

Took my V8 LDV Ambi down there a couple of years ago and was great for Lemans. Although mine is set up as a camper, with awning, gennie, sat tv etc.

Insured through a motorhome conversion policy then, but now I just get day insurance on it when I need.

Was a bit uneconomical but did manage an average of 16 mog I think, but we had a lot of camoing gear in for friends, fully loaded fridge freezer, bikes and dogs aboard.

Also just make sure which ferry company you try as speedferries (no issue now) would not let us on as was 2mm wider than their max !
