XC90 Side steps

Had a slight altercation with another car at the weekend. The side step took the brunt of the impact and in doing so the arms that connect the step to the car snapped.

The step itself is fine I just need to replace the arms connecting the step to the car.

I've tried my local Volvo dealer and they tell me that the steps have to be bought whole as a kit at a cost of about £400!!!

Does anyone know where I can get just the arms rather than the whole step for XC90 '03 model?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Also Is it possible to make one out of alloys so you can fit it back on?
