As im still offshore i asked my boss to pick up my car for me yesterday, spoke to him today and is finding theres still something wrong with my car, driving along at 30/40 and start to accelerate then it feels like all the power is just disapearing, although i know the bosche 044 pump is noisy he says it doesn't sound like a 'normal' fuel pump noise, ie a constant buzz, it gets louder then quieter and sounds like its slowing down then speeding up, is this wrong or just how it should sound?

Have you upgraded the wires going to the fuel pump as well? That should be done on all Nobles. The factory wires are too small and get their power through the ECU rather than direct from the battery with a relay. If you haven't upgraded, I suspect that a larger fuel pump will just exaccerbate the low voltage condition that the factory wiring is known to cause.

Yes the wiring has been upgraded, i'm still convinced its an electrical fault of some sort though, apparently its fine on the rolling road. when the car is on the rollers though they put extra jump leads from the car to the metal of the rolling road machine (apparently fibreglass cars dont earth well on their dastek rollers, my tvr was the same)

My fuel pump sometimes varies in loudness, not by much though. I do not however experience any loss in power. I can understand your frustration with the issues you've been experiencing. If i were you, i'd send the car to an official main dealer and leave it with them for a few weeks or so to let them iron out any bugs. Theres nothing worse than having niggley issues like this with such a great car. I can certainly recommend www.tvr-centre.co.uk

Yes it is very frustrating! Its not so simple getting it to a dealer though, a day off work travelling down south then again to collect the car plus petrol and train/flight costs, i don't understand why any normal garage can't seem to suss it out, its hardly rocket science! This is why i sold the fking TVR!

I had mine on the RR trying to iron out the same problem after fitting the new fuel pump and it performed well but as soon as Id paid up and driven away it played up again, now im sure its that nasty piece of fuel pipe to the pump but havent changed it as yet. have you had a look at this on yours? Its been brought up recently as a common problem as you may already know. Gaz

already replaced that pipe, sounds like we have similar problem, if you get anywhere with it i'd appreciate any pointers. what a nightmare i'm having with this car! Bet its something simple too

Try getting your boss to release the vacuum on the fuel filler cap by lifting the lever over the key hole ( or pulling the breather hose off) and try driving it like that.

It gets worse as the tank empties.

There is an upgrade that cures this, speak to yellowshed.

There is nothing to worry about, it is perfectly normal and will not harm anything.

I think Ash is referring to the noisy fuel pump. They do tend to sound like a demented bee from time to time. The noise also tends to vary. There is a fix to improve the noise I think by changing the way it's mounted - hence the advice to speak to Yellowshed.

The loss of power is not normal (obviously)
