"Black Humour" - rights and wrongs thereof

Following on from the link to the story of the poor chap who died after his pants caught alight.
To the people who don't happen to think this is funny; Why do you think those who do should be judged by you? Why do you think there's any relevance or point in comments along the lines of "you should be ashamed of yourselves"?
It's often troubled my why people think they have a right to judge other people on what they might find amusing - when it all boils down to levels of detachment. I mean, I giggled - mostly at the image of a wheelchair bowling towards the kitchen only to thud to a halt in the doorway whilst his crotch gently smoked away. But this is because I can, in this instance, detach myself from the screaming and the unimaginable agony the chap would have experienced in his final moments. It's MY mental imagery that is amusing me - not the chaps suffering.
Ignoring the specifics of the story and turning to black/dark humour general, I guess I'm interested in peoples opinions on the "how could you?!" judgement.

Flaming pants... Classic...It's a gift to be able to find humour in bleak situations although it's not always appreciated by everyone.
The Asian text joke thing was a case in point. The jokes weren't particularly funny but it was the crashingly inappropriate nature of it that was comical - that and the mock outrage.

Just because he died, doesnt mean the whole incident is not fookin hilarious!!!!!
Of course you feel sorry that he died, but if you go around feeling sorry or sad for everyone else, then you aren't exactly going to enjoy life. Laughter and humour make the world a better place

Some poor cripple going out in a blaze of glory is just not funny.
I bet you found it funny that the poor pilot chap lost his sight whilst flying?
