Chicago is my fave US City.
Things to do, wel I dont know if you are working, I always am when there, so evenings is most time i have to explore.
Here are some evening Highlights.
1 Cocktail bar on mezzanine level at Regency Hyatt hotel. Amazing views and it is the worlds longest cocktail bar. Well worth a visit, the bar is up against a massive window looking out on the buildings opposit al lit up! Its really excellent for a drink!
2. Visit "Holy Cow" Restaurant. Great sports memorabilia on the walls, really freindly place and some seriously good steaks there, I mean right up there with places like Peter Leugers in NYC.
3.Navy Pier, dependant on weather, but if it is clear skys, watching the sun go down from Navy Pier is amazing, the whole "loop" in Silhouette (sic). And its free too!
4. You have to try a proper Chicago Hotdog, with everything on it! Excellent. Far better than the other famous Chicago delicacy, the deep pan pizza, which were stodgy IMO!
5. If you have some day time, take the Jet or spedboat ride round lake Michigan. Great fun, a nice tour, just a bit of a laugh.
6. Day and Nightime, go hit some baseballs at "Sluggers" batting cages. Good fun!
Chicago is great, the loop is seriously smart, great food, good service and eays to get the feel of immediately.
There are some reat blues clubs in the not so nice parts of town, take advice from concierge at hotel, as whilst the places like "Buddy Guys" are really good, I took a trip out to a place called "Reservation Blues" ina not so nice part of town(owned by some natice American it appears) and the music and atmosphere was the business! But it was a bit dodgy on the streets at 1am, no taxis would stop as apparently it is too dodgy, so best book a car to pick you up! !
Have fun, its a great town.
Oh, the bus tours are really good there, much better than NYC.

went to a club called hanggee uppee and at 3am in the morning was singing along to Come On Elieen completely pissed 
Was just like home hehe.
Get yourself along to a place called addison if you want somewhere with loads of bars, you can take their tube over there. Taxis are dead cheap mind.

I'm in Chicago at the moment - it's ace!
I'd say to avoid the Sears and go up the Hancock Tower - you've only got to buy a cocktail and they'll let you wander around, rather than pay a fee. It's a little shorter than the Sears, but it puts it all in perspective.
It's worth looking at the 'bean' and the start of Route 66 is just round the corner.
Food wise - get yourself a proper Chicago deep dish pizza. But make sure you take a friend along with you because there very filling.
And it's bloody cold out here at the moment, just so ya know!
