Why not ask if he'd mind reimbursing your listing fees before trying to put him down with second hand sarcasm?

Risotto in 'won item from fellow PHer that I've since decided I don't want' shocker!

Just kidding. Listing fees is appropriate but maybe string it out for a couple of days with the 'pocket money' comment. That was a good one IMHO.
ETA: I might be cynical but look through "recently sold items" of the same description and see if your buyer has snagged a cheaper example. If so, take him to the cleaners. If not, just listing fees. JMHO.

No, honestly, if I bought something I didn't want, I'd just pay up. I've been in the seller's situation though. Realistically, what else can you do?If the buyer's trying to wriggle out of the sale, they're never going to pay up for the item.
As the seller, let's be honest, you're never going to take it to court.
You can't leave negative feedback for buyers anymore.
I've persuaded people to pay my fees before - usually works if you state your situation politely.

Ask him how much pocket money his son has, and how good he is at washing cars.

Surely not!
It's a detailer's "bob a job week" nightmare; a half-arsed kid with a bucket of dirty fairy liquid solution and a gritty sponge...Will whip around it faster than you can say 'swirl mark'

I'd go on but I have to nip out now and run the car through the automatic wash down the road

"If you think i'll believe that, Idiocy must be hereditary."
Which is quite deep really, as not many fathers will describe their son as an idiot, which suggests he doesn't have a son, which destroys hereditary lnk evidence.
After reading that, he'll probably go into a feedback loop and explode.

I am more than aware of what I need to do, there
are too many situations like this that occur
which ruin the ebay experience for people. It is very
unfortunate that there is no negative feedback
facility on ebay any more for the seller to give
their opinion on the transaction. So my only
feedback I can give is via this means and it is,
be a good parent and keep your meddling child
away from a situation where he would be entering
you into a legally binding contract. I will not
ask you for the listing fees as I don't want to
deal with you, but be sure to be reported to
ebay.
good day

Check his profile, see if he sells stuff. If so, win an auction and then send him an e-mail apologising on behelf of your 'idiot son'.
but risk being reported yourself of course...OP, did you check recently sold similar items?
A friend had such a situation selling a vehicle. Lo and behold some days later feedback appeared from another seller with a similar vehicle...non-buyer's response to this gave the game away!
He began small claims court proceedings at this stage and non-buyer agreed to settle at a %age of the value of the breached contract.
Edited to remove details on the request of my friend as you never know who is reading!

At least you can live safe in the knowledge that your son will never drown in the gene pool.numpty time waster said:
