Mobile Phone Contract - No Phone req'd - Website ?

This seems so simple yet after 30 mins googling I'm getting nowhere.

Dad needs a mobile contract with loads of minutes 500+, as he's inept with phones he can keep his old one or just buy a basic nokia.

I can't find any decent websites to find rates - they all either offer the latest phones or are sim only for a higher fee ?

Anyone know of a decent site ?

I've tried Moneysupermarket, Uswitch, Carphone warehouse, phones4u etc

If you are looking for a pay monthly sim without a phone you are better off going to tbe mobile phone networks and getting a sim only deal, o2 currently have a range of pay monthly sims which are cracking value for money its called simplicity.

Or Orange have their 'sim only' deals starting from £15 p/m.
e.g. Racoon 15 = 300 x network mins,
100 texts
unlimited land line calls.

I don't understand why you don't just get a new contract with a decent new handset, and sling it on eBay?

Yep.. O2 Simplicity. It's a monthly thing so you can leave anytime or switch to a contract anytime.
I used it for a year till my old phone died then went back on a contract to get a new phone. They actually gave me a new phone, more minutes, more texts for the same price as the simplicity thing I was on but I had to sign up for 18 months which suited me anyway.

Thanks for the replies but yes it seems that you actually don't get a reduced rate so he may as well get a phone and sell it.

Ridiculous really.

The best deals seem to be 3 or Virgin do they have poor coverage ?

(The shops say not but T mobile is useless around here - Solihull)

the o2 simplicity contracts are quite a lot cheaper than with a phone, pretty sure vodafone have some good deals too. Need to sort my mums contract out, as she doesn't need a new phone so we're going to change it to a sim only one.
Should be able to get a pretty decent one for £15-£20, I think mine with o2 is 500 mins, unlimited texts and free internet for £20 a month.
There's no yearly contract either, so you can cancel it whenever

I think Virgin use T-Mobile's network - IIRC.

I got the 600mins/unlimited texts for half normal shop price although I had been with vodafone for a year previously on a high price contract because I didn't want a new phone and threatened to leave

I had o2 simplicity for a year then I called them up to see what deals they had and they've given me 12 months, 20 mins/month for free, I'm not a big user so this suits me fine. I called them back again and got the same deal for the wife but I think they only do it for existing o2 customers.

Can't get a decent deal with his current provider (Tesco) its the one thing they aren't competative at (yet)
