I know these guys have gone and they received less than good words on here but....

I need a service and will get my tappets checked at the same time. I think I read somewhere that due to their re-designed followers they could set a tighter gap on the tappets...

Anyone heard this as well or is it complete buckem??

If I'm correct anyone know the gap?

Cheers

Due to their redesigned followers a lot of other things happened as well....flaky chrome coating my arse...if you have them in your engine still, I'd take them out, seriously.

I would actually be interested to hear how many miles the engine has done since the rebuild. I would also be interested to know the condition of the follower pad surface and the cam lobes. I concur with Alistair regarding the followers. In my engine, the hardened surface had broken down and worn through on some followers and was flaking from others. Some cam lobes were slightly scoured as a result. I have photo's I can send if you wish to compare with yours.

To answer your question the gap setting should be the same as a standard engine. However my engine and I know Alistairs was the same; many of the gaps were very difficult to measure because the shims sat down inside the revised Craft valve spring retainer. No idea why this was the case for some and not all, or any at all for that matter. Would seem like poor component matching to me?!? Craft did tell me at one time that they were going to provide spring retainers that would carry larger diameter shims aka Peugeot type, which may have helped in this case. But they never did explain why they did not acheive this. However, I will say that the Procharger installation was good and they got the gearbox alignment right on mine. The wiring they did was also neat and tidy. And since they replaced the Clutch slave I have not had any issues with the clutch (touching wood). Just a shame about their engine work.

I now have STR8-six cams, followers, pistons and rods in and all seems fine. The engine top end was recently inspected by TurboPacs and they gave it a clean bill of health. The engine is now running on Castrol RS 10-60.

Good luck

The engine has done about 4,000 miles (if I remember right) and seems to be running fine... Sounds like a bag of spanners when cold just like any other Speed 6... Have good oil pressure... etc

I had the suspension done and the guy fitting them has driven a lot of Tuscans and he always comments on how strong my car is and how quick it is.

This all has me wondering.

I think I'll put it in for a service plus adjustments and see what information comes back about the condition of the engine. I would hate to think thjat I would have to replace the top end again. I must add that I didn't pay for the re-build, it was the previous owner. I've had the car 2 years next April and it's been 2 years since the rebuild.

Any suggestions on where to put it in for service? I live in Hertfordshire.

Please send me the pictures as curious to see what I could be in for.
