MSV Introduces 'Arrive and Drive'

£25 for a track day taster...

Club MSV, MotorSport Vision’s in-house trackday department, has introduced ‘Arrive and Drive’ trackdays at three of its circuits, where drivers can take their own car onto the track for just £25. Arrive and Drive sessions will take place at Snetterton, Brands Hatch and Cadwell Park this December.  The event is designed to offer drivers a first taste of circuit driving without having to commit to a full trackday.

Alex Baker, Trackday Organiser at Club MSV, said: 'Arrive and Drive gives you the chance to experience every aspect of a normal trackday event and all you need to take part is a car, a driving licence and some enthusiasm.  The track is really the only place that you can explore the ever-increasing performance of the latest cars safely and legally, and we are keen to encourage drivers to come along and have a go on our circuits.'

Customers that have booked a Club MSV trackday within the past 12 months will also be entitled to a 20 minute slot free of charge if they introduce a friend to the scheme. Arrive and Drive trackdays are available for £25 and will take place on the following dates:

Snetterton - Sunday 7 December
Cadwell Park - Saturday 13 December
Brands Hatch - Sunday 21 December

Spectators are welcome free of charge and can also experience a flying passenger lap beside a Club MSV instructor for a small fee.

To book a Club MSV ‘Arrive and Drive’ trackday for £25, call 0870 850 5014 or visit www.motorsportvision.co.uk/arriveanddrive.

Does your car have to have safety aids (roll cage) and do you need a helmet? Cheers.

I would think: No. And Yes but you could hire one. I cant see it being any more strict tha ususal trackdays or the Castle Combe Action Days which run a similar idea.

£25 for 20 minutes.... While that's not actually that much more expensive than an evening session if you work out how long you spend on track it's just painful to factor that into all the travel costs etc.

About the same as an average karting session, I think? Not bad if you're close enough to justify it.

Was going to say something very similar, bit far for us northerners to get to stuff like that and there is no way I would pay for a full track day in my car.

A) Don't worry, everyone is at their own level & you'll soon get the hang of it.
B) This might be a slight issue, but go at your own pace and keep well aware and you'll be fine, might be worth having a passenger session or instruction if poss.
C) Make your intentions obvious, obey track rules and you won't get hit ! you can buy track day insurance, you're road insurance is unlikely to cover you.
D) Don't crash, & see answers A B & C

Will be just as chaotic as the Castle Combe "Action Days". People have no reason to be well-behaved if they're paying by the session, and are far too keen to go quickly right from the start rather than build up over a few sessions as you would on a full day.

I thought it. But also thought I'd wait and see what people report. Different people running it, on different tracks, so who knows if the same level of "incidents" will happen.

I'd be tempted as often don't have the time for a full day... but if you're on track with a load of wannabe Shumachers from the off then less appealing

Castle Combe Action Days have been running 7+ years. They try, but there's always a load of broken cars in the paddock by the end and always muppets driving way beyond their abilities from the off.

  • Always a first time
  • Track time will boost your confidence, just don't drive faster than you feel comfortable. Ideally you want to do a full day (probably in the summer when the track is nice and sticky). As already mentioned, build up your speed slowly over a few laps
  • You will get in the way, but when you can, move over - the briefing will tell you all you need to know
  • Not if you're sensible, but it can happen - I spun in my first track day (problem finding second gear - rear end got out of shape - whoops!)
  • You can get insurance, but it's expensive, i've not yet seen an accident (touch wood) but having seen cars going down the straights 3 abreast last time I suspect it's only a matter of time sadly.

And as this one shows. People go there knowing it'll happen. Listen to the cheers: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=7FI0OpY3uQU&feat...

But MSV may well run things differently as it's a different company and different tracks, and might keep a tigher control over people.

I remember when that happened. Think the guy was a member of passionford.

I think its utterly disgusting clapping and cheering as some of the spectators did.

I went to the one at Snetterton on Sunday. It was really well run with instructors and marshals making sure sessions ran smoothly. All drivers had a comprehensive briefing before going out on track. There was lots of track times available throughout the day. I did 3 sessions and there were no dramas.
