I think this is cracking news ! Not unexpected, but I think it's great that Audi are prepared to invest in sports car racing and how important it is to them. Looks like we could have another interesting race next year with more reliable Peugeots and quicker, but perhaps less tested, Audis..

Isn't there a move towards ALL prototypes being closed cockpit coming soon? Or has that been scrapped?

I *think* (but would need to check) that may have been dropped along with that funny Le Mans Evo class (or whatever it was called). Unless Audi are working on the basis of only running the R15 for 2 years before putting a hard-top on it.

Scrapped before the 2008 LM24. I guess this was due to pressure from some teams due to the costs involved. The closed cockpits and GT cars have extra regulations to do with cocpit temperatures being within a limit of the outside ambient temperatures. Money money money.
