Evening All,

Just posting this up in the wild hope that one of you may have had an experience of this or an idea as I am really beginning to get fed up...

My better half has a rather smart 3rd Gen JDM Prelude which is the only JDM 3rd Gen Prelude I've seen in this country and has great bodywork too...it has however had a couple of niggly problems which have seen her take over my car furious ...

The Fuel / Temp Guage both went completely nuts a little while ago so I took the pod out and inspected it with nothing obvious being at fault. So I got a fellow Prelude owner to send me one out of his Automatic UK car. Fitted it as all the plugs were the same and the temp and fuel are now fine.... The speedo however - not so banghead

The speedo now doesn't register until you are doing at least 20mph an then under reads massivley. However it appears that as the under reading is close to the MPH / KPH conversion except in reverse;
ie Doing 75 mph shows as 40 mph and 50 mph shows as about 25 mph.

Right, 2 questions then;

1. Do you think that this car has had one of those KPH to MPH convertors fitted?
( like this

2. If so where is it likely to be and can I just remove it?

Many thanks in advance if you have any words of wisdom before I go Mental...!

Btw - here is the cars new speedo so you get the idea;

Usually the ecu controls the speedometer and being an import will likely be fitted with a de-limiter/convertor usually in the form of a black box with 4 wires fixed to the rear of the speedometer using eyelets but some are fitted at the ecu in a similar way, its unlikely (not entirely certain) the uk speedo will be compatible with or without the de-limiter/convertor fitted as the JDM ecu will govern the signal sent to the speedo which will be km/h originally and mp/h when converted.

hope this helps

Mr Rice thank you very much for your advice..

The problem is now fixed but not in the way I originally imagined!

After quite a frustrating few days of not really getting anywhere with it I thought; "fk it - I've nothing to lose" so I opened up both speedo's next to each other and took the working temp/fuel guages out and swopped them over into the working speedo guage.

Somehow it all worked, went back together fine and is now all good again.

Great! 8)

ps. The speed limiter is still fitted, that second pic was on it. Felt like hitting a brick wall!
