OK, I'm not one for upgrading cars but for some reason I feel the need to enhance the sound track of my E92 M3 along with adding a few BHP. I'd like to hear from current E92 M3 owners as to what they think may be worth while mods whilst not going over board.

So would you add...

1. Gruppe air induction
2. ECU upgrade for performance
3. New back box/ full exhaust for better sound/more BHP

So, is it one or all of all of the above, and any specific manufacturer that springs to mind. Personally the one which feels the most urgent is adding a Tubi exhaust.

E9x M3 owners what floats your boat...

Interesting topic as I am also thinking about upgrade BUT once you start you never finish and that stops me right know as the all package is very well balanced.

The first upgarde on my Lotus was the exhaust and after a while I found it useless as the increase of perf was almost nothing and in contrast to better suspensions and tyres it was a waste of money.
So to answer your question I would suggest ecu upgrade (I found www.evo-s.co.uk recently) then if necessary gruppe M and/or exhaust for pleasure only. I would wait to ear in real life the effect of tubi and eisenman.

So far I am taking as much track days/ lessons to be able to fully exploit the car. I was also thinking about the steering wheel from bmw performance.

I have the einsenman ''race'' back box, the manufacture is the state of the art, the sound is round, meaty and deep, specially at around 3 to 6.000 rpms.

I'm also looking for a few more ponies, there is an italian well known (in Italy) tuner called ''Romeo Ferraris'' which has an ecu tuning promising around 25 hp.

I'll get sooner or later also the GruppeM intake.

Sounds a far better way to spend money than fiddling with what is a fantastic and well-rounded package. Strangely, you haven't mentioned the hardware upgrade which most tempts me - better brakes, since they are not up to track use.

Surely you don't want to make it too loud for track days? It is already quite loud.

Reading car magazines, I fully agree that brakes seems to be the weak point of the car but it remains controversial.

So far I had no brake- fading problem in Spa but it was my first time on track with the M3 and I was quite slow.... in the bends but faster than with my elise in the straights so it is quite a test.
More interestingly, I tracked Abbeville a definitively short track without long straights to cool the brakes. It was dry and again I had no fading problem.

Wait and see.... Next season will give me more opportunities to push the car at the (my modest) limit.

Racing Dynamics do a large selection of aftermarket parts for the e9* M3.

Complete exhaust systems including the manifold and back, tuning software, pulleys etc or you could go for their M3 Stroker conversion the RS46 535bhp beast! They make it a 4.6!

Care to elaborate on your answer? Was it with regards to the Stroker motor not being impressive?

Who's your favourite BMW Tuner and whats the best car they have produced in your opinion?

I'm impressed. Won't be often you see a stripped m3 v8 engine. Usually you just turn a key and it goes, you don't think of all the mechanicals that are going on under the bonnett.

Before you do any intake modifications, have a read here: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1742... Conclusion is that the E92 M3 intake system is already pretty much ideal.
