ultima using LS1 engine ? URGENT !

Now that I have pretty much decided that I am going to build a canam I am shopping for
an engine and gear box.
There is right now an acution ending in 6 hours for an LS1 engine that is out of a corvette C5.
It looks like this probably can be bought for less than 2k EURO and the interesting part is that
the seller has all the accessories, like the electronic pedal, ecu, starter motor and even the
lock with key.
It is rated 350hp which I think is still quite a lot for a 850kg car or shall I better look for
a LS3 engine ?
What are the opinons ?

If it's from a vette c5 then it may be an ls6 engine. Look for red covers on the engine. The hp suggests it's an ls1 though and it'll be a few years old by now. It's cheap if it's complete and with no faults. Horses for courses and all that. An ls3 could be bought with an aftermarket ecu and it would be new. It'll cost yoo more. I'd let my wallet choose in this scenario.

ETA, if it's the car being broken in Texas then I wouldn't bother.

it is out of a 2002 c5 with 37k kilometers and currently the bid is 2,2k euro,

thanks that is very kind, I have placed my bid and the interesting part is
the includes all to make it work, if i start buying the spare parts that are missing will end
probably at the same price that I am willing to pay for the one i am bidding on.
I have visited your site and have learned that you are an expert on ls1 engines, maybe that might
become interesting if I finally get the piece.

FYI this ls1 went for 3k will find out very quickly if there was a real buyer or
if i get an offer as the second highest bidder.

Spatz: That sounds a little high for a used ls1, new 400hp ls3 in the box is $4 to $5k. I bought a 2002 ls1 for $1k off ebay three years ago. The value on the LS1 has not gone up because the ls2 and 3 are improved over the ls1. Just a thought. Lee

for an engine alone that would be too much, the auction included everyhting, loom, cats, ecu etc.
did not get anyway so probably will go for a schwartz ls3 engine
