Being stingy and replacing my own pads (more money for Santa's fund) and I can't squeeze the caliper pistons back far enough to get the caliper round the new pads.

Any thoughts?

I think they have to be wound back with a wind back tool, rather than squeezed.

Rick's right, they need to be wound back as the handbrake mechanism acts through the main piston. IIRC you can bodge it with the spanner for removing and agle grinder disc, the two peg variety.

Sorted. Needed wound back under pressure too. So now I have another tool I'll hardly ever use.... still saved 20 quid by doing it myself.
