Help! Anyone know BT engineer/expert in the south east?

Chaps, does anyone know or can anyone recommend a BT (or ex BT) engineer in south east Essex who does a bit of private work and would be able to help with a little wiring problem I have? If so, please could you drop me a PM.

Hi. It's my dad that has a problem, he's in Leigh-on-Sea. His problem, as I understand it, can be summarised as follows...

He's just got Sky installed. As part of a package he also got Sky broadband and changed his line rental from BT to Sky. The telephone point in which he needs to plug his sky box is a bit old, and the socket is the wrong size for the jack on the Sky lead. When he called Sky about this, they said that they don't do the telephone sockets...that's BT's job. When he called BT they said that it's not their problem anymore because his line rental is now through Sky.

So, he bought a new telephone socket thingy from Homebase and tried to replace the old one himself, but the wiring is completely different. I'm not sure how far he got with it, but it didn't work. Now he can't get the old box wired up again, so now he hasn't got broadband or a telephone. Mum, as you can imagine, is not impressed.

As it seems that neither Sky nor BT can help, he is looking for a telephone engineer that does private jobs.

back of the local paper / friday ad will have someone. Points will be approx £65 each.

Not sure why the Sky installer wouldnt do it though??
