I recently took some photos that, as a novice, I was fairly proud of at my sister's wedding. I have since invested in Photoshop Elements and have spent too many hours this weekend putting together a slideshow, which again I am pretty happy with although still want to tweak further. I am planning to give a copy to the happy couple at Christmas.

The problem is now trying to put the slideshow in a watchable format. I was imagining I could just burn it to a DVD and they could watch on a TV, but PSE doesn't seem to want to burn to a DVD only a CD, and when I did that the photos looked terrible, like I had taken them on my phone! They look slightly better if the slideshow is saved on the computer as a WMV file, but the panning is a bit jerky and they still aren't great quality. I am also unsure if any DVD players would be able to show this format?

So does anyone have any tips on how to get the best results from an Elements slideshow?

cheers,
Will.

I’ve used the built in Windows Movie Maker (standard issue with Windows XP). Really easy to use, and you can add some background music, and add affects between pics. Plus titles and credits makes it quite fun.

Remember that you edited them on a nice hi-res computer monitor, but a TV is (usually) 720 x 576 pixels, and interlaced as well (ie alternate odd/even scans). That's fairly sure to wreck any still. IMHO it would be much better to leave your slideshow in computer flavour than TV flavour.

I'm happy with what I've knocked up on the slideshow front, it is just what I do with it next that I'm struggling with, in terms of producing something useable for someone else. I'm really just wondering if anyone else knows the best output for a slideshow from Elements that optimises the quality and can easily be viewed on another computer? (as the DVD option seems a dead end?)

I really don't want to start all over again with a different program, I've spent too long getting it how I want it already!

cheers for the comments so far.
