Alarm for garage with no power ??

How do I make a lock up garage secure/deter intruders that has no power ??

It has the normal crap little lock in the center of the door and I am also going to add another bolt/lock at the bottom or side.

But is there anyway I can fit some sort of intruder alarm if the garage has no mains electricity ?? Are there any solar powered alarms that can charge up during the day ??

Try a car battery hooked up to a car horn, mount a switch so that if the door opens the switch gets flicked and horn goes off.

If you do this try and remember about it as everytime you go in it will scare the crap out of you.

Your probably better off with a physical deterant, i have 3 HUGE padlocks/hasp & staples on mine, all fitted with security bolts and a shed load of weld. If you do fancy the alarm route, Response do a decent range of wireless alarm, available from Screwfix & B&Q etc for £100 which has 2 PIR sensors and 2 magnetic catches.

Can't beat the physcial option in my opinion!

Battery powered shed alarm??

Yale do small ones that are motion detectors and set off a 100 odd Db
siren if they are activated.
The one I had had a 4 digit code to deactivate it when you went in.

Thanks for the offer A bit more than i'm prepared to spend at the minute. I'll look into some bigger locks and bolts first I think.

Any cheap car alarm. Put the do pin / courtesy light pin against the doors. Run it off a car battery.
If you want to save hassle, buy a tractor battery, to save charging in more than once a year.

Less than £20 online too. I keep everything of value locked up in the garage but one of these would be a nice deterrent if anyone were to break in.

Reckon the bollard would be your best bet!

Low tech would be an X10 window or door sensor or both and a receiver, set the code on the siren.
After dinner plug in the siren, unplug after breakfast.
No need for timers or switches, unless you want to of course.

ETA Batteries last about a year.

Firstly make the door more solid, they are incredibly easy to simply lever and bend out the way.

Then secure the garage at both bottom corners.

Don't even think of an alarm until the garage itself is strong enough to warrant, it's like putting a high tech alarm on a wendy house.
