Regardless of the accuracy (seperate issue!) am I the only person who is angry about the way the weather is presented on TV these days?

I know computer graphics can be very fancy, but why do they zoom around the country showing you each different bit? Also, why do they stop the clock on the animation at random points?

All I want is a picture of the whole country, with an animated forecast of the coming day or so. I know where I live, and can figure out which bit refers to me.

I have no idea, in fact I wrote to Ch5 once asking them to repeat the weather forecast again a few minutes after Lara Lewington's broadcasts as I spent all the time wondering what she'd look like naked.

They got the joke, quite a funny reply actually

I don't know if you watch the BBC news weather reports in the morning, but I am so distracted by the appalling way Kate Allen dresses herself I completely miss the weather report.

FFS Kate, turn the effing lights on when you get dressed.

I find their verbal quirks irritating. The long and randomly applied pauses and weird emphasis on some syllables. Also they add 'er' or 'ah' to things like Wales or The Midlands: "...rain will move into ah London later..." Finally, the abject pronunciation in some presenters laeves you wondering what the hell they're on about unless you happen to be actually watching at the time. The brief seems to be to try to be amusing and 'different', rather than effectively deliver the forecast. Of course Becky Mantin can do no wrong... biggrinlove

also why are they "pulses" of rain and not the rain showers I have been used to expecting since the dawn of tv weather reporting. Do they deliver the rain in a more regularly intermittent pattern?

TBH I've given up on tv forecasting and use xcweather.com instead, at least it gives you the weather from all the major weather stations in the uk including wind speed which is important to me and my past times (not sailing zzzz).

My favourite is the dark haired one that presents the weather after ITV early evening news. Not becasuse I lie the way she looks, but I'm amused by the way she speaks in a very clear, RP way and then gives her London roots away every time she says Claaaahd.

There's a chap who does Sky Weather who always looks a bit pissed, and leaves you scratching you head wondering why he bothered to turn up - looks and acts a little like Keith Floyd.

I think he's also on the Ch5 ones as well, is it the guy who just stops mid sentence and waits for the music?
