News Presenters
Discussion
Why are they always sent out to do outside broadcasts? They generally add no value. If an incident happens in some tiny remote town, why does a presenter have to stand there, often in the rain, telling us about what happened? Somebody in the studio could do it much cheaper?
Last week the main ITN news was presented by a bloke standing outside the hotel in Mumbai... why? Him being there added nothing! Any we pay for this, one way or another...

Probally trying to represent the fact that the crap they'r saying his first hand/reliable information

I'm prefer to concentrate on the graphics that now accompany these stories... I've noticed lots and lots of random number scrolling 'matrix style' to represent the tumbling financial markets and the scrambled messages of terrorists...
All in the background whilst the 'facts' are flashed up in bold...
I would absolutely love a BBC/ITN news Producer to be asked on TV what the hell they add this toss on the screen for? It detracts from the seriousness of the story when all I can do is chuckle at the whizzy number wangs in the background

A couple of weeks ago, BBC Breakfast sent a reporter to some small town that had it's streetlights out for some reason. Initially, he was there in the dark, so you couldnt see much anyway. Then he was there once it got light, so the point was utterly futile. Why? Sometimes I wonder what planet the people who make these programs live on.
