Mantle ideas
Looking for some inspiration, currently nearing the end of a self build and need to buy a mantle to put over the double sided wood burning stove ( http://www.firebellyshop.com/firebelly-fb2-double-... ) .
The room is painted in white and is vaulted to ceiling with 3 plastered beams going across the center, rear window, full height in black ally, so a little stark.
Chimney is in the center of the wall that backs onto the dining room hence the double sided stove, also no wall separates the lounge and diner, just the chimney breast so you can walk around it, hopefully that's clear ?!
We only want a mantle shelf, mainly to help protect the soon to be bought plasma that's going to be hanging above it as well as support the center speaker, before people say TV should not be mounted above fireplaces, its too late, all the wires have been plastered over and in place now! (Also the room is around 18ft sq so should be far enough from the TV)
We are looking for a contemporary mantle, an old oak beam whilst adding character, i think will look out of place in such a clean cutting room, we are also having walnut flooring so would rather not introduce another wood species to the mix (any nice walnut mantles?).
Have tried to find glass or stainless steel ones but Google is just not doing it for me at the mo, and even so may just add to making it even more stark?
If anyone has any ideas on this / inspiration it would be very greatly appreciated
