Afternoon smile

After selling the impreza on Saturday, I immediately found a thirst for something a bit more retro and a bit of a rolling project.

Luckily I managed to source 24 hours later a 1990 Golf Gti 16v, grey in colour (not sure of exact colour name,) 156k on the clock, and pretty standard bar a set of crashy lowering springs, a naff gearknob and a cheapo stereo.

It is not perfect by a long way, list of things to do are:

Fix electric windows
rebuild front bumper and splitter
raise the suspension slightly with a decent ride setup
full service
sort tracking and look for worn arms and bushes
sort mechanics of the front seats which are a bit rocky and not 100%
Find and fit an OE stereo
Refurbish alloys and fit decent tyres

Although the above needs attention, the car runs, brakes and handles very well indeed. First impressions are very good, it feels a bit tired and the steering wheel is on the large side, however very impressed with my very first VW.

Can anyone recommend any decent owners clubs?

Some very quick pics, will get a decent location next week some time.

Great looking golf and nice photo's. It looks like it's missing the tasty 16v leather trimmed steering wheel-those aged quickly and became very tatty hence got changed or re-covered-might want to ask the previous owner if he still has it?

Very nice. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for it?

I've got a set of Original Mk2 16V springs if your interested. You can have them for a small drink and postage.

I will be getting it in fully functional order first and foremost mate. Possibly a slightly wider set of BBS alloys with a small polished lip, nothing ridiculous however.

Exterior will remain standard, although may put the single headlamps up front. Either a 1.8t or R32 engine after that, but probably not until this time next year.
