I know they're not too expensive, but at the moment I'm not in posession of a blender but love making my own soup.

Does anyone have any soup recipes to share that don't require a blender?

Thanks smile

Do you like chunky soup? If so there must be loads, otherwise it'll have to be something soft enough to push through a sieve.

You could try a sieve/ricer etc, but why bother?
Chunky 'farmhouse' style soups for you! Plenty of nice ones - chicken and vegetable etc, use potato to thicken it. smile

I like chicken broth with rice and vegetables, it's very filling (make the veg really chunky) and no blender required.

A lot of soups can be served "rustic"
or pop down to Tesburys & buy a stick blender.

I didn't realize that soup didn't exist before blenders.

You can use a potato masher to get half way there with a lot of soups.

I use a hand blender. Much easier as you blend the soup in the pot you cooked it in, less dishes to wash biggrin.

If the soup needs some pepper, load the corns into a 12 bore. biggrin

My Chicken Soup.

Roast Chicken on Sunday and eat half of it, put other half in fridge.

Put half roast chicken in big pot and cover with boiling water and bring to simmer.
Add 1 large diced carrot, 1 large diced parsnip, 5 large diced potatoes, 1 veg stock cube, 1 chicken stock cube. Optional, onion and/or garlic.
Simmer for 40 mins.
Pull chicken out, separate meat from bones and nasty bits and put chicken meat back in soup.
Use potato masher in soup to squash half of veg.
Use ladle to skim off oily layer.
Add handful of frozen peas.
5 more minutes.
Season, stir and serve.

...if you don't want it too lumpy....use a masher when all the ingredients are cooked.....it gives a soup a good hearty texture.....smile

Oxtail soup is a good one as you discard the bone and veg.
