Can anybody help me? My boot opens when I press the cerbera badge but then when I go to close it, it won't stay closed. Eventually after locking and unlocking the car a few times and opening and closing the driver's door, the boot closes but I haven't been able to see a pattern to follow for the next time. Any ideas? Thanks.

you may just need to adjust the catch or latch on the boot itself.

I suspect u need to adjust the cable from the solenoid to the catch. It is easy to fix once you take a look.

Hi Dan

Does the catch wobble backwards and forwards on its fibreglass mounting? If so it needs tightening back up and a blob of grease might help too.

Simon

what exactly is happening, this happened to mine as the badge was too tight against the button and it was popping the boot when the brakes went on......Fun on the motorway when the boot decides to unlock :augh:

Mines used to do that, would come up just over 90 and go back down at 70mph lol

Ours did it for a while - end up burning out the solenoid !

Turned out the badge was too tight to the body, so it kept automatically pressing the button.

Backed the bolts off slightly, replaced solenoid & hey presto !

Thanks for you help everyone. The problem is that the boot doesn't always close. It's as if the catch hasn't taken hold. After locking/unlocking/opening/closing driver's door it seems to work but to no particular pattern or sequence. That's what made me think it might be something electrical. Other times it closes without problem which made me think that the catch itself is ok. Once closed properly it doesn't open again so I don't think it's anything to do with the Cerbera badge being too tight.

Haveyuo looked at the cable from within the boot and how it is 'screwed' to the catch??

To test whetehr it is the boot not fitting or whether it is an electrical fault leave the boot open and push the latch down with a screwdriver If it locks ok on the screw driver then you know that the boot does not fit properly and you need toadjust it. If it does not lock it is the lock or an electrical fault.

Assuming the latter try loosening off the bolt that holds the cerbera badge but just a turn or two. The bolt being too tight is a common fault as not above by various people.

If that dosesnt work then check how tight the wire is from the solniod to the boot latch, if it is too tight the boot may not lock.

Other than that I guess a relay somewhere.

Thanks Jes,

The catch closed normally on a screwdriver. I think some dirt around the part of the catch on the boot lid was stopping it pressing down properly so the hook couldn't grasp it properly. It seems to work now.

Thanks for your help everyone,

Dan.
