I noticed that 2bular and Quicksilver offer performance stainless exhaust manifolds (at a cost!). Just what difference do these make? I have a Larini silencer with Pipercross induction system on my 111R. Would the header (and maybe a sports catalyst) improve the sound? And what about performance differences - just what would be the bhp benefit? Are the headers easy to fit to the Toyota engine (easily fitted the other stuff myself)? Thoughts and recommendations would be appreciated.

According to the sales blurb on the Hangar site, combined with your existing mods and a GT spec ECU flash from Hangar 111 you'll be good for 200 bhp and about 10lb extra torque mid range. I've got an ITG maxogen and a larini box and might get the GT flash in the new year.

Just wondering if anyone had fitted a performance manifold to their 111R. Experiences?

I have a Larini manifold on my car. TBH the only thing I can say truthfully is that is weighs a hell of a lot less than the Toyota one, and adds to the noise(coupled with Larini sports cat and back box). As for performance gains I cannot say, my car was used as a development mule for Larini and well they never tested it after they completed it?? I never had the car on a rolling road pre the new manifold but I have done a few r/roads since and not too happy. Developing less than stock power, really can't say whether or not that is down to the manifold but Sinclaires and Steve Williams seem to think so! It will be coming off as soon as I find a suitable replacement, most likely a PPE header from the States but they are not cheap, but it does seem to give good results, the Yanks love tuning and many have reported pretty decent gains with it.

If you do go down the aftermarket manifold route one thing I will say is your car will need to be mapped to suit, I was running very lean til I got it sorted. Anyhow best of luck.

I've got the Ronin stage 1 from them. K&N Apollo induction, their exhaust system, sports cat and remapped ECU. Gives more low down power and removes the cam change step. Better to drive overall but I miss the 2nd cam kick sometimes.

I'm swapping to the decat in a month or so (weather depending!) which will improve things a little more and give a litte more exhaust noise.

A while back someone on seloc did a load of rolling road tests with a series of different zorsts and air box / filter combos.
he max gain was 4-5 bhp which could be put down to atmospherics. Most were losses.

The lotus designed system is actually very efficient.

Change them for weight saving and better noise, NOT power increase.

You'll only get any performance benefit from a remap. As above though, a better manifold 'should' normally improve low and mid-range torque, depending on map.

I have a beautiful 2bular back box and the noticeable difference is the engine breathes easier. May by no more power but it does rev well.

What about a manifold on the 111S? Im thinking of the Larini to go
with my club sport system. Will it give any noticable torque gains
os just save some weight?

Russ.
