Another Newbie, what car for a grand, tea or coffee, thread

Hello I'm new!
Just thought I should start off in a proper fasion. I've been reading these forums for quite some time now so thought I would register so I can add my 2 penneth.
The title was a bit of a joke on the type of threads that pop up but whilst I'm here.
Car for a grand.. probably a shabby mark 1 golf in death blue.
Tea or Coffee, Coffee then Tea once the sun is over the yardarm!

Well, your first post is going to be in GG before long and will be met with the response of "MX5" and "335d-mapped" (not for a grand though!).
Mate of mine has just spent £900 on a Mk2 Golf GTi 16v and I don`t think you could go far wrong if you found a good one. I`m quite smitten to be honest.
ETA: Oh, coffee please. Just a spot of milk.

Let's get the spelling lesson out of the way then, it is "penn'orth" rather than penneth.

Hmmm, yes a mark II 16 valve. I had an 8 valve GTi a few years ago, my second car after getting some no claims bonus. The 16 valve has always been on my list.
I still have very fond memories of my old 5 door mk2 Gold Driver (1.8 carb) - I was thinking about getting another this week - and dropping a 1.8T into it Hmmm, yes a mark II 16 valve. I had an 8 valve GTi a few years ago, my second car after getting some no claims bonus. The 16 valve has always been on my list.
They really were bloody good cars, and I'm still anooyed at my brother for wrecking it
