Noble export to Germany, need help with paperwork

Hello everybody,
I just joined this forum and hope that you all can help me.

My dream is to import a Noble M12 GTO3 to Germany and right now I try to find out more about how I can get this car on the road here.

I importet a '98 Lotus Elise MK1 two years ago, had a COC paper and only had to exchange the headlights and switch fog light with reverse gear light.

I heard for the Noble M12 exists no COC paper is that correct? How is this car licensed in the UK, is there some special agreements and car-classes e.g. for Radical, Noble and all these other track-cars?

The german TUV-licesnse association doensnt know too much about their job and I want to clarify all that in advance.

I would really be very thankful for any information that will help me in this regard. Maybe a person that knows about road licenses in the UK. Cause all usual cars younger than 2001 in the European Community should have a Europe-wide valid datasheet that I might use then. If I had one of these, the TUV would be satisfied I guess.

Michael, suggest you contact one of the mainland Europe dealers as follows for advice (they will also know all about LHD versions). AFAIK there is no CoC document for a Noble.

Do you already own a Noble? If not, have you considered buying and importing one from the States? They seem better value for money there and you won't have all the issues with Right to Left hand conversion.
Granted shipping will cost you a bit extra but I reckon that even taking that into consideration, you should save a few bob.

Thanks very much for all the replies so far. I will contact the member that seems to have a noble in germany, which would be the best source of information because in case you need a special check on the car which is very expensive (up to 10.000€ incl. changes at the car), you can also bring the results of one of these checks having been carried out at the same car sometime before and they will accept this so I dont have to do it again.

Nobles in the USA are not that attractive right now due to exchange rates plus tax and customs which I wont have to pay when I buy inside the EC.

I am in Dallas right now since August and all the Nobles I found here on the market were priced between 45 and 60.000$ for a M12 GTO3. Plus 30% Tax/customs minus 1,30 USD/EUR I would end up at 60.000€ which is more than twice the price than in the UK. I saw reasonable GTO3s in the UK starting at 22k up to 25,000 GBP.

And, ich want a rhd :-). My elise also is rhd and its a lot of fun on the road since I sit on the outside and can cut the grass in right corners.

I hope ill get some kind of data sheet of the car, maybe also from the Netherlands or Italy that will serve the german TUV as valid datasheet.

Just a thought on rhd vs lhd--the Noble is much wider than an Elise/Exige and that might be an issue when overtaking, unless you have an alert passenger.

hiya, yep i am in germany between hanover and hamburg (have emailed you the exact town) have a m12 gto 3r but am registered through the british army so i dont have to use the TUV.

i do however have a good understanding of the changes needed to make to the car and the TuV requirements as i previously registered my skyline GTR on the german system before i sold it here.

i am also thinking of selling mine, was probably goining to be march or april next year when the weather picks up a bit but i might be pursuaded to let it go before. might be able to work something out
