I feel the need for a moan thismorning due to the fact that both myself & my girlfriend aged 32 & 29 were asked for ID to buy some alcohol lastnight & because neither of us had any proof of age, the women refused to serve us. So what i hear you say but my gripe is the fact that i have lived in the same area all my life & been buying alcohol from that shop for the past 10 years or so & have never been asked before! The really annoying thing is, i went to school with the women & she knows how old i am. 
mmmmmm i knew i shouldnt have had that shave!

Years ago I had a friend who went to the pub with her sister. Friend was 16, sister was 30 odd. Sister was refused at the Bar, friend was served.... Not sure which one of them was the happier.......

That's the problem with tasking really stupid people to enforce a rule. Most would understand what the rule is there for, and only act if required, whilst the 'tards would ask a pensioner for proof of age, just 'coz, "that's the rool innit?".

That might be because the girl serving is under the age of 18 & they have to get permission to serve it. (Apparently)Vipers said:

I think they have to do that if the sales person is under 18 (or is it 21), so the other person (who needs to be above that age) can approve it - for legal reasons.Vipers said:

Maybe she was under 18? They cant sell you alcohol if they aren't, happens constantly in my local Waitrose, they have to call over supervisors to put the booze through.Absolute PITA, generally dont carry passport or driving license with me!

When I was in Texas a few years ago, myself and a workmate decided we fancied staying in and drinking a few beers rather than go out.
Not only did we have to drive out of county to buy beer, but even though the girl had a Russian and British Passport, a French and British drivers licence proving she was of age to buy beer, the 2@ at the counter initially refused to server her because she didn't have a Texas drivers licence.
There was a gun shop next door too!!
