After rebuilding an alfa spider I then couldnt drive.
Do S's have enough room for long legs?

I'm 6 foot and there is plenty of space but I would consider an S3 for the extra door opening space.

S3, S4 & V8S have more room (seat goes further back), due to a slight suspension / body redesign. There should be plenty of room, as these cars were produced by the lanky Peter Wheeler.

Mike there quite often little difference in price for the S (with the exception of the V8 which does carry a premium) buy on condition not model/age. As you will see in many posts here the vital check is the condition of the chassis, especially the out riggers and the rear trailing arms. Try a few on for size and see how you get on I thick you would find the longer doors of the S3 and later an advantage.

Where in the country are you based, its quite likley there a piston header nearby who would be prepared to help.

Try more than one, as in build they had the option for long or short pedal box. The short pedal box option gives you more leg room.

HTH, enjoy looking

Any one know more about the short and long pedal box option.
Can you make any mods or change over if you have the wrong one?

As long as the car doesnt have a roll bar, which restricts the seat travel, you will be fine. There was a guy called Richard that was 6' 7 and was fine in an S3, so should be no problem.

Its an integral part of the bodywork build, So whilst the pedal distance could probably be made shorter this doesn't help in your quest.

You'll be okay, I know chap who was 6'8" who drove has an S, even though he had something fitted to bring the sterring wheel futher forward...I'm 6'2" and fit wonderfully. Chimaera's have more room though, but S's are still very generous with room. You'll be fine!

i disagree with you regarding Chimaera. I initially wanted to buy a Chimaera but it was too tight and then i set eyes on the V8S and i instantly knew that was the car for me subject to leg room which turned out to be generous.

Im 6'5 with exceptionally long legs and I have an S1, All I had to do was change the original steering wheel to a smaller one so I could turn it without grinding my legs. You'll be fine

There's a TVR meeting on Sunday where there will be quite a few TVRs to try on for size. You never know, there may even be a green V8S there.

I'm 6 foot 3 and fit easily.

The problem for me is the seats - I suffer with my back (too much lying on a cold garage floor probably!) and that kink in the backrest of the seat does me no favours at all.
I'm changing my seats to XJS coupe seats as they have a straight backrest - however they are going to have to be slightly further forward than the standard seats - but I still fit in though it is a bit tighter.
