Britains most infectious accent?

Listening to Rafa Benites on radio this morning and he's started to develop a scouse accent. Noticed this before. When Jan Molby (Danish) played for Liverpool he had the full on Cilla Black in next to no time. Can't say I've noticed this with anywhere other than Liverpool, which is a shame because a German adopting a Wurzel like burr for example would obviously be of great comedic value.

that annoying whiney londonesque thing seems to get to women in no time. my oh has gone from a lovely yorkshire accent to sounding something akin to nikki from big brother. horrible!

I worked at Nissan years ago and we had a Japanese interpreter, she was was married to an Italian guy and had lived there for years before moving to Sunderland. She had the most bizarre accent I had ever heard.

Having been brought up in Surrey, spent several years in the west country, and now living in the east, I am in danger of starting to sound like a posh farmer.

I've only picked up a few words so far, like "aroight" and "over 'eare"

No. It isn't. Not in comparison to many.

Strine on the other hand is unavoidable. Spend a month or two working with Australians in Australia and you WILL pick some up. After a year I sounded Australian to Brits - but the Aussies still knew I wasn't local (mostly - even some of them were fooled). That was unconcious.

I never picked up a New Jersey accent. But I got good enough at it that locals didn't keep asking me if I was British if I wanted to pass by unnoticed. I wasn't accurate enough to be from NJ but it was plausible that I was from "out of state". The Jersey accent never became unconcious - I was always doing an impression.

You know a funny thing, most Italians dont even know who he is (unless they are into horses of course)

Incidentally, he is very "british" as he has lives here for about 15 years and has an English wife and his kids go to normal schools (albiet private!)

I see him all the time, cruising around Newmarket on his horse. Dont know why he cant just buy a car like the rest of us.
